Floral is indicated for preventive and therapeutic treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections, caused by florfenicol sensitive micro-organisms such as Actinobaccillus spp. Pasteurella spp. Salmonella spp. and Streptococcus spp. in swine and poultry. Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Florfenicol, a fluorinated derivative of chloramphenicol, does not carry the risk of inducing human aplastic anaemia that is associated with the use of chloramphenicol, and also has activity against some chloramphenicol-resistant strains of bacteria.
